Maxis is an American Video game company which was founded in 1987 by Will Wright and Jeff Braun. The most famous video game SimCity went public along with their series of video games like SimAnt, SimEarth, and SimLife. This American Video Game company went Public on June 1st, 1995.
Will Wright is a videogame designer and Jeff Braun is a video game producer, they both met at an important pizza party and Jeff Braun liked the concept of a video game designed by Will Wright. As Jeff Braun is planning to produce his own video game Jeff wanted to include Wills Video game to make it big. They named it Maxis based on a formula that every video game company should have these two syllable names and it should include letter ‘X’ which was suggested by Jeff Braun’s Father.
Maxis is famous for Simcity video game. Simcity is a video game where you can build your cities virtually on your computer and protect it from several disasters. This video game is one of the most popular video games of all time, not only SimCity Matrix successfully developed and released a series of SimCity games. This famous video game Simcity was awarded as the game of the year in 1989.
After the huge success of Simcity series they released many video games like SimEarth, SimAnt, and SimLife not only video games they also started working in different Design Business Aids, Sim Refinery is one of the examples. Few non-simulation video games like Robo spot and 3D Pinball were few standard video games for Windows Computer.
Later in 1997, Maxis was acquired by EA Studios for $125 Million. Later in March 2015 Maxis’ Emeryville studio was closed and all the employee of this video game company were given opportunities to explore in other locations of Maxis and EA Studios. In September 2015 in the name of organizational restructure maxis team started functioning as EA Mobiles
