Electronic Arts (EA) was founded by an Apple Employee Trip Hawkins on May 27, 1982. When Hawkins thought to incorporate EA he initially came up with a name “Amazin Software” instead of Electronic Arts. The name Amazin was declined by the board members, later he came up with another name “SoftArt” with an inspiration of treating software development as a Software Art. Board of committee again declined the name SoftArt as it was not soo cache. Hawkins liked the word Electronics and to phrase it many employees considered the name “Electronic Artists”. Later few board members opposed saying we are not Artists we are Developers. After opposing the title “Electronic Artists” they named it “Electronic Arts”.

EA published many games and applications for home computers and later started developing games internally in 1987 and released Skate or Die!. They collaborated and bought many game developing companies like Maxis (Video Game Company) to stay profitable.
